Hi, friends! Hope your week is fantastic so far. Yes, this is my weekly wrap-up from last week and I realize it is Wednesday. It has been a busy last couple of days. I had so much to cram into my 2 days off including cleaning out the pantry. Does your family leave empty boxes in there? I don’t get it. They will take the last of something and then just leave the empty box in there. So, I went to the grocery store because the kids were complaining there was nothing to eat. I told them there is plenty to eat but if they feel that way it was because THEY ATE ALL THE FOOD I JUST BOUGHT! #summerprobs Anyway, I went to the store and when I came home, the pantry was so messy that I couldn’t put the new food away. So, it turned into a 3 hour clean out in-between cooking dinner, etc.
I finally caught up on the first episode of the Bachelorette. OMG….a chicken suit? It’s just as good as the shark/dolphin girl. Who I actually ended up thinking was hilarious! Then I watched the one on Monday night. I have to admit that I think she is a little bit of a drama queen. She kept talking about “all the drama” and “tough situations”…..it’s only the second night! Don’t get me wrong, I like her and I was hoping she would be the bachelorette, but it’s a little early in the game to be THIS stressed IMO. I already have a favorite, do you? Tell me below in comments! Every season I say I am going to do a bracket with my girls but I always forget until half way through. Do you have one? Tell me your favorite way to watch Bachelor/Bachelorette!!
Surviving the summer
The kids made it through their first week of summer without telling me they were bored! WOW! I know you moms out there can totally relate. I used to have a “BOREDOM BOX”. If they told me they were bored, I pulled out the box of all the crafts and little toys/kits they had forgotten about and it was like new all over again. That doesn’t work now because they’re too old. So, I hand them a list of chores they are welcome to do to help them with their boredom instead! It pretty much curbs any further complaining!
Basement Bathroom
I decided to start finishing the bathroom in the basement on Saturday. Actually, that’s not true. I started it in my head a long time before that and am just now becoming brave enough to actually work on it. I had to have a pipe moved and then I had to fix the cement. It was such a daunting task, but I finally did it! Now I have to move on to the rest of the bathroom. Follow along on Instagram to watch my Instagram Story for the daily activity of the finish. Check out the rest of the basement finish where I did all of the work myself….baseboards, doors, door trim, cabinets, entertainment center, etc.
Updated Blog Menu
I finally had the chance to go through the blog and see what was working and what wasn’t. I had a section called “What I’ve Been Wearing”. Apparently I have been wearing nothing. Nothing at all. It literally said “nothing”. So, I redid the menu and fixed all of the bugs. Now, if you go under “style” in the menu bar, you will be able to get the links to whatever I have posted that I have been wearing. Not a big deal, but it is just so rewarding to fix something that has been frustrating you for a long time!
Two New Beauty Products
I found a fantastic lipstick I’m loving it for summer. I have had it for a little while. It’s called “Sweet Cream” by Bite Beauty. A little orange/pink. They call it a muted peach. Not sure I agree with “muted” but it’s a great shade! I also picked up a new eye cream to try. It’s from H20+. I just wanted to try something else and I think I really like it! I typically have dehydrated skin around the eyes and this is really good about plumping it up! You can see my typical evening skin routine over on my Instagram Story highlights in my profile. The Death of Kate Spade
I am so sad to hear about the tragic and untimely death of the iconic designer. Not only her tragic death, but of her silent suffering. It is absolute devastation to everyone involved and I can’t imagine the loss that those around her that are dealing with. The impact she had on the fashion industry made her a highly sought after brand. Taking an idea at the dinner table to launching with 6 handbags to becoming one of the most sought after brands made her a pioneer in that industry. There were so many resources for her and I hope that if anyone is suffering, or knows someone who is suffering with suicidal thoughts, that you please get the help needed.
