It is almost July and I woke up this morning to a slight, cool breeze and the sun rising. Within an hour, this beautiful Colorado morning became almost like nightfall with wind and a cool mist and the air became thick like a Midwestern summer evening after a heavy rainfall.
The air smells like rain and it is here for the weekend. And it is OK because I need to do a little recon on our home.
The house is a little chaotic. ICYMI I am embarking on a complete master closet remodel. The first thing I needed to do was to get rid of the door that takes up half of our closet when opened. So, naturally I tore apart the closet drywall to see if I could install a pocket door.
Also this week, after a long year of waiting, I finally installed glass in the basement bathroom I finished last May. Oh, you caught that? Yes, I installed the glass enclosure. And WOW what a difference it makes!!
I have had a shower rod and curtain for a year. Every time I wash it it shrinks causing the rod to be placed lower and lower on the opening. My kids could pretty much take a shower and look over the top of the curtain. The thought actually makes me laugh out loud. More to come on that in my bathroom series. I will be sharing how I did it!
My daughter has been visiting friends for two weeks and she comes home today. I can’t wait for her to be back home. She has no idea that I installed the glass in the shower and she will be SO happy!
I have been searching for the perfect lanterns for our patio. I found some, but I didn’t like the shiny brass finish so I painted them black and used my favorite rub n buff on the tops and bottoms. I love them so much now. I am just looking for the perfect candles for inside. I think they will look fabulous in the evenings with the soft flickering light.
July 4 decor: I am working on making a “rag flag” for July 4 today. I bought all of the materials last week with all of the best intentions. But, if you have ever read the book ‘If You Give a Mouse a Cookie’ then you will understand what happened. That was me with my house. Can you relate?
So today I will pull it all back together. I hope the weather is nicer where you are this weekend and you have an amazing day!
