Good morning from the beginning of a frigid weekend here in Colorado!
This is the time of year that I miss living in AZ. Oh, I just want to sit in a lounge chair under an umbrella, next to a pool, and read a book this weekend. But, I live in CO and that’s not happening.
What a week! Some weeks I feel like I can conquer the world, and some weeks I feel like I am just trying to keep my head above water. This week was one of those doozies.
My daughter, son-in-law, 2 dogs and all of their stuff moved in with us in October while they were waiting for their new house that was to be completed in December. Well, it’s almost February, they are still here, and they won’t be moving into their new house until March. And I feel bad for them.
My daughter is having a baby in March, about 1 week after they move it (praying for that scenario) and they have been building this house for 2 1/2 years. They just want to be settled, set up the nursery and their new home, and my daughter wants to nest.
Unfortunately, they found out this past week that their designer (who is supposed to be some “amazing” designer that works for the builder), had a baby, quit her job, abandoned the project, and never completed her part. She basically ordered tile. And not enough of it. (Sneak peeks of it below!)
Can you believe it? We found out that a lot of things got missed and weren’t ordered or reconciled and long story short, she just didn’t do her job. Since the home is near completion we have been scrambling to order items that were never ordered. I have been basically doing her job and I am honestly so angry about it.
I am not angry about having to help, I absolutely love this kind of work and having the ability to help them! But angry that all of this surfaced at the end of the project and this has become extremely stressful for my kids instead of fun and exciting.
I have never heard of anything like this before and she should be ashamed of herself. Have you ever experienced this or heard of this from a designer? I mean, who does that and lays their head down at night feeling good about themselves?
Here are some peeks at some elements of the house.
I am loving the way their home is coming together and I can’t wait to see it all done. It really is so beautiful and I am so happy for them!!
Do you have any projects that have taken waaaaayyyy longer than you anticipated?
For me, my Master Closet is one of those. Since all of my time has been spent working my actual job and also working on my kid’s house build, I haven’t had the time I need to work on the closet. I seem to only have a few hours over the weekends to work on it.
This weekend I am working to finish the drawer fronts and add the pretty little trim detail in the closet today. If I have time I will also add baseboards, which will pull a lot of it together and take it from ugly to mostly not ugly, haha!!
Keep up with me on IG stories to see if I get it done. Is that a challenge? I gladly accept!
I have to DIY outside today and I am not looking forward to it. I hate working outside when it’s cold. My hands hurt but I can’t wear gloves when I cut wood and it is just so much more fun to DIY in the summer! Don’t you agree??
I am SO excited to get this project done and crossed off of my long list of To-Dos!! I want to start a new project (or 5) but just can’t until this is completed. I really just can’t. For my own sanity I need to finish. Wish me luck!
